I want to first give a little history on myself. I bought my first diesel in '05 it was a 2003 6.0L. This is the 8th diesel truck I've bought in the last 11 years, and 7 of those were Ford's. Over the last 5 years I've owned a '08 6.4 and a '15 6.7 both lifted and deleted. I'm hoping to keep this truck for at least 8-10 years.
I figured I'd start a thread to track my newest build over the next few months, and into the future. Truck was ordered 08/02; built 10/19; and delivered to the dealer on 12/14.
It's a 350 CCLB DRW Lariat Ultimate with 4.10 gears, power running boards, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, LED quad beam headlights, adaptive steering, up-fitter switches, factory bed liner, and 360* trailer tow camera.
The first mod it got today was front and rear weather-tech floor mats. Over the next few months it'll get tinted, B&W hitch, lifted, wheels and tires, bumpers paint matched, air bags with on-board air, bed cover and I'm sure several other items along the way. I've been watching this forum since July and it's been a great learning tool!! I hope this will be a useful thread for ideas on other members future builds, and I will request any negative posts are deleted to keep it on track.
Here are the 100% stock pictures from picking it up today
How do you plan on paint matching the bumpers? If I had to guess, you can't paint the chrome bumpers and need to buy primed bumpers from Ford and have them painted to match?
I really like the 2 tone trucks but don't want anything more than an XLT (not a fan of leather seats). When I finally purchase a new Super Duty, I was hoping to make a deal with the dealer to exchange my chrome bumpers for the painted (primed) version and then having those sprayed with Line-X along with the lower portion of the truck to match the King Ranch color scheme.
reseehc_99. I painted the chrome bumpers on my 2014 SD. The body shop sent them off to have the chrome stripped then they painted them black to match the truck. They claimed there was a primer they could use over the chrome so they could then paint without stripping the chrome, but the price wasn't that much different so I had them strip the chrome first. It ended it lasting well.
ive never seen anything last paintedover chrome .. hell the powedercoated bumpers chip looing at them from ford , id leave it chrome deal with it .. nice truck mines already done .. kind of a bummer . nothing to look forward too .. oh maybe some kelderman bumpers for Christmas

My last Super Duty was an '03 CC LB Lariat with a 7.3. I had to replace the front bumper on it and it cost me about $400 - $450. Was it cheaper than that to have the chrome stripped off of your bumpers or has the price of factory replacement bumpers gone up since '05?
Just a quick update, I got the windows tinted earlier this week. 20% over the factory back windows, 15% on the front windows, 55% on the front windshield, and a 20% strip over the 55 for the front brow. I also added the tuff skinz superduty raised carbon fiber lettering to the hood.
A PMF Alpha Series lift has been ordered and I'll provide all the details once it arrives and gets installed.
That looks real sharp with the tint and the letter inserts. I've done every truck I've owned with tint just about identical to what you've done, minus the strip across the top of the windshield. It really sets off the white well.
