antilock light

my rear antilock brake light came on today, didnt feel anything different. i decided to adjust the brakes, rear, and it will still do it, but not always, suggestions.

ignore it, Mine comes on and off on my 96 randomly but everything works fine so I dont bother with it.

If I remember right the ABS system on these trucks was kind of a cluster. But like I said mine comes on sometimes and everything is ok.

Just make sure brake fluid is at a good level and check that brakes have been serviced recently should be no issue.

first thing i did was check fluid level it is good, then i adjusted the rear brakes.

You should be able to retrieve a code and find out why the light is coming on. Found the testing procedure over on FordF150.net in this thread


I would have put in the link to it but not sure how.

Your RABS valve may have issues. If you have a gravel road around you can test it by driving about 20 mph and then lock up the brakes. Rear antilock should activate. If not there is an issue with the RABS or the wiring/circuit. I had the same thing (intermittent light that eventually stayed on) and had to replace mine.

well after adjusting the rear brakes it seemed fine all day, until i pulled up at home, then the light came on again. so its random. brakes feel fine.

Unless the RABS module has failed internally (which mine did leading to a spongy pedal) the brakes will work normally. While the light is on pull the codes to see what is happening with the system otherwise you are doing nothing to find out the cause of the light. Is the module or sensor starting to fail? Is there a wiring problem?
