Some questions and pictures of my 47 1.5 ton
Hey there,
Figured I'd stop by and send a couple pictures of my truck i have been working on for the last few months. I Just discovered this thread, which certainly would have been helpful earlier in the build. A couple questions, which i am sure are duplicates of questions that have already been answered
1. Is there a paint code for the trim color often referred to as "Tacoma Cream?" I'd like to use a single stage urethane if possible and the only color code I can find is for the PPG Ditzler paint, as well as some codes.
2. How does the seat attach to the seat riser? Any pictures would be helpful. the seat was the only thing missing from my truck when i bought it back in June. I ended up tracking an original set of seat springs in perfect condition, a few states.
3. Last major project will be a nice wood flatbed, so I'm looking for some good plans or ideas on that. A little curious on how high above the frame it needs to sit and what methods people have used for getting it to the correct level.
As far as the truck goes, its an original complete truck I got out of Eastern WA from the original owners family. It sat for about 30 years before I blew the dust off of it and got to work on it. I have lots of pictures I should probably send of various areas of the truck.
Any help appreciated!

Excellent job you are doing there! The seat attaches to the seat riser at the back corners of the seat bottom with a hinge on each side. The hinges have an adjustment that allows the seat cushion to be attached in either of two positions. Put the seat on the riser and you will be bonking your forehead with the heal of hand.
Your automotive paint store should be able to look up the paint code for Tacoma Cream paint. They have records for way back then.

You can see the black hinges hanging to the right in this picture of this bottom seat. This seat is upside down as it is getting a new pad and cover. The hinges bolt to the riser in one of two positions as mentioned above. You will find the holes (I believe 1/4" threaded) in the side of the riser just by the rear of the door jamb. Nice job on your truck. It is looking great!

Hey GB SISSON, yes I am in Washington, west of the cascades in Enumclaw. Funny you should mention it, but his actually is my first restoration. Its been a ton of work but a lot of fun as well. I was pretty lucky to start with a truck that was complete other than the seat springs. I actually had them delivered to a friend and need to go pick them up still, so I am sure once I have them I will realize that its really straight forward. I have a few other questions as well, and this forum seems like a great place to get good information from!

Here are just a few more pictures from when i picked up the truck back in June. Some of the repairs that I needed to do were both the inner and outer cab corners on both sides, cutout and replace the floorboards and rebuild the entire section above the windshield as it had rusted out. I tried everywhere to find a replacement piece to weld in, but had no luck so i decided to make my own. It turned out pretty good, but was a lot of work, especially tying it in with the door pillars.

Thats the one! Yes, I originally bought it as a quick project to use to haul building materials around my property with.... well then I got carried away. There is another 1947 in the Tri-Cities area the just showed up again on craigslist. It looks pretty complete and in comparable condition to mine. I'm already starting to look for the next project, but I think I'd like a p/u instead

Once you spend some time driving it, yes you'll want a pickup. The pictures prove out what I was getting at... Amazing work you are performing. Pretty sure I saw it on CL also. I don't miss a lot of them in WA. I have a 2 ton but use it mostly around my sawmill on my ten acres. It isn't nearly as nice as yours though.

That's a great question, I'll let you know once I figure it out myself! I had not intended to make it this nice, it was originally going to be for hauling lumber and some gravel for my property, but my O.C.D got the best of me. Its nice to have people recognize nice work and have an understanding of what it actually takes
