Depends on what you want them for. I have regular and cable chains just in case I need them, but have never used them. I also have emergency strap on chains, which I did use one time when I plowed too far into a snowpile.
I just want something incase i get into a spot where I need the extra grip. Occasionally we travel to places where they do put in chain only advisories, but so far I have not been caught up in that and managed without. Now that I got my new tires that I'll have that size for a while I am ready to get some chains.
Was elk hunting in northern WY near the MT border and got crushed with a couple blizzards--guys with no chains were stuck everywhere. I pulled many trucks out to the trailhead over the course of the week.
You could always make a set. I took an old pair of chains for a big rig and re sized them to fit my truck. All the tools i needed where a chain tool & jacks for lift the truck up. I store them in an old tool box that I leave in the back of my bed. If I get around to it ill take pictures. Its pretty easy.
I have a set of V bars I put on the back and regular chains for the front. I've only had to put them on once and that was Siskyu Summit coming outta California into Oregon due to Chain Law enforcement and I had the travel trailer behind me. If I hadn't had the trailer I woulda not had to chain. Even had to put drag chains on the Prowler.
