Question no start, no starter

Hey gang,
Proud to be a part. Newer owner of 2001 excursion. Love it!!
But, minus 10, had it plugged in, had power in the morning starter would even click. Replaced batteries, nope. Replaced starter, nope. Replaced starter relay (2001 but it has 2002 relay, no under hood relay that I could find) although stupid does run in my genetic line. Replaced neutral safety switch, nope. Check gauge light goes on so I am assuming computer is on. Now at a loss. Hate having to tow in and pay someone else.
Any ideas.
Thanks

Do other things work? lights, door alarm, radio?

if so, check the voltage drop on the wires going to the starter and check to make sure that the power is getting out of the ignition to the starter

Yes all systems appear normal captain, starter not getting power. I will check voltages, what should they read? I assume the check is done while someone else is turning ignition to start position.

http://www.aa1car.com/library/voltage_drop_testing.htm

here is a good link on how to do a voltage drop test. this tests for excessive resistance on the starter circuit high amperage cables. excessive resistance can cause a slow crank or a no crank condition, but a no crank can also be caused by on open in the circuit.

auto zone has a pretty thorough collection of wiring diagrams on their website too just FYI. it took me forever to find out about them, but now that I know they are my go to resource!

If you have a DVOM with decently long leads, you can set it on the windshield and use clamps on the leads to the respective wires and then watch it from inside the cab while you crank the engine

Your starter solenoid is on the fender in an 01. Right next to the passenger side battery.

This sounds like the PATS system is flaking out on you, or the gear shift lever is not aligned. Is your theft light blinking on the dash at all? If it is doing the rapid flash, it has been activated.

Wiggle the gear shift lever while trying to start as well. Had that happen on my 01 before. Wiggling the lever made it start.

Thanks, what is the pats? I played with the shifter trying any and all postions, nope but after trying to start in neutral the theft light did start blinking but just that once. Do i remove the passenger side battery to access starter solenoid. I looked for it was not visible. I assumed i had a hybrid 2001-2002 and the relay and solenoid on the start was all there was.
I will check that and replace tomorrow hoping...
It is not easy driving 10 inches off the road when you are used to 4 feet plus! too many crazies on the phone not be driving one of the bigger trucks on the road.
Let you know. Greger

The solenoid is right here on the fender in an 00-01:

Right next to the vacuum pump and behind the battery.

PATS = passive anti-theft system.

I think even though they list it as 2001 it is a 2002 because it has the starter relay switch under dash behind fuse panel. Please forgive if i appear a novice, I am! Could the transmission position switch cut off all power to starter.?? I will look to replacing it also.

it could if it isn't showing that you are in park or neutral, but I would test the switch before replacing it. should be a simple check with a DVOM that could save you money

Next thing you should check is voltage from the ignition switch in the column to your starter relay. The ignition switch sends a voltage signal to the starter relay when you turn the key forward to the "start" position. The voltage is cut off when you release the key back to the "run" position.
