I am currently looking into being a police officer and I am kind of a Crown vic lover. I know it's not a truck, but I also love the Ford Lightning. Is it possible to take a ford lighting engine and put it into a Crown Vic. I want to give the 94-96 Impala a run for its money, but still keep it Ford. How tough would it be to modify something like that, or do ya'll have any other suggestions. I want people to look at a Crown Vic and do a double take on the exterior/interior/ and under the hood.
Thanks, this is a great site and I am learning more about Ford.
Both would have the modular V8, but the supercharger on the lighnting might create some hood clearance problems. Other than that, I would think that it would bolt right up. It would be like swapping a 289 with a 302 or 351.
that 5.4 motor is taller and would stick though the hood of any car Musclle mustangs and fast fords have one in this mouths issue of a lighting 5.4 in a fox body mustang
I'd think your best bet would be the 32-valve 4.6 from a Continental Mark VIII. Should be a relatively easy switch, and there shouldn't be any hood-clearance problems. I'm assuming you're going for a "sleeper" look as opposed to something that's obviously high performance.
