I test drove a 17 SD at a car show in early Aug. The Ford employee that rides with you had an iPad and was able to turn the adaptive steering on and off. From what I can figure the adaptive steering added to the stiffness a bit and supposedly increases the turning ratio at slow speeds. I will never know because I have no desire to pull hard left until lock at high speeds to compare the difference. We first started with AS on then half way through he turned it off. I noticed when i would make a right hand turn at a street corner without AS i would tend to over steer and needed to correct myself. Not sure if all of a sudden it was easier and my body hadn't adjusted properly or what, but there was a difference.

I did the same as Joneser5000 however I didn't notice much of a difference with it on or off. That's why I didn't bother ordering it and saved some $. I was just weaving in and out of some cones, not make tight turns though.

So, after reading this thread I started paying attention. While in my truck I don't really notice anything, but switching back and forth between it and my wife's car I started feeling like, "man, I really have to spin this wheel to get her car to do what I want...nothing like my truck which is so much easier to steer."

So, I give it thumbs up and have found something else I love about my truck.

I agree 1911, great feature especially for the wide track front axle folks.
