EEC or ??

987 Ford Bronco II, 4x4 auto. Was running fine, then started bogging down, eventually died and would not restart. Did diagnosis on fuel pump & components. Pump ok. However, the power lead to the fuel pump relay had at some point melted the insulation. The EEC tested as defective when doing the fuel tests.
Took a OBDII tester and plugged into the under the hood diagnostic port. The tester seem to recognize the Bronco, but said needed a DLC plugged in. Not totally sure what this is - there was another lead that fit into the diagnostic tester, and put it in. No difference.

Have I fried the EEC?
Is it possible that a fusible link has fried?

Where should I go from here?

The first thing to do is to turn the key to run & ground the fuel pump pin in the eec test connector.(Google eec 4 test connector fuel pump pin)

If the pumps run when you do this the EEC is most likely fried. If they don't run leave the key on and the pin grounded to check where you're losing the voltage

If your scanner is one that can test OBD1 & OBD2 I don't know why you cant pull codes.

FYI an 87 B2 isn't equipped with a check engine light so the only way to know if theres any trouble codes is to check.
