I got a 78 ranger 4x4, it has a locked up 351m I have a chance to get my hands on a 87 460, came out of an f350. Any problems I should be aware of and would a stock y pipe with the 80s manifolds fit in this truck? Thanks in advance

I don't believe the 80s manifolds will clear the frame rail. More specifically the passenger side. A buddy of mine did a 460 swap in place of the original 400 in a 78 Bronco. I seem to recall him having fitment issues, the 460 he bought came out of an 80s-90s era truck. I ended up giving him the manifolds off my 460 after switching to headers. Do yourself a favor and buy the 460 conversion mounts, it will fall right into place without a hitch. You can buy the L&L mounts or Bronco Graveyard has their extreme duty 460 swap mounts. I went with the ones from JBG, fit perfectly and are holding up well.

i was doing even deeper search there was a form that said it's better to use the 460 out of a truck or van from 70s or 80s

More than likely because the later model truck 460s went to a rear sump oil pan. The front sump pans had clearance issues with the front axle on 4x4 trucks.
Good, the C6 will make the swap easier. The '87 should be a good candidate for you then, especially since you will get the correct pan and manifolds. Are you getting all the front accessories with it as well?
As mentioned, you can use a set of conversion motor mounts. You may also need an aftermarket power steering bracket (such as from L&L) to remedy clearance issues with the steering box. Or you can modify your own if your handy. They also make a high-mount alternator bracket that works slick if you run into clearance issues with the front cross-member.
