I've been checking out the posts on the homemade intake using the NAPA #6637 air filter. Sounds like a great idea, cheap and easy to do.
My only concern is getting water or snow on the filter. With the engine heat melting snow and freezing over night, I don't think a frozen solid air filter will work the best. Just thinking a couple months aheads when it gets cold up here.
Anybody have any experience with this set up? Or am I just worrying to much?
Shortly after installing my Tymar intake last winter I drove through the huge blizzard that hit the northeast. I was concerned about the same thing and checked the filter when I got home. It was completely dry. I also checked after driving in rain and it was dry. Don't worry about it. I have heard of stock air intakes getting jammed with snow and ice.
