The XL's appear to have the old-school 1-6 numbers seperate from the LCD screen, and higher trim trucks have the gear displayed in the 4.2" or 8" LCD screens. Maybe someone who has one can post some pics of this? That would be great.
I don't have a truck yet so can't try it out but I am glad to hear it is still there. In it's earlier life my 2011 had some real bad shifts and I got used to watching the display to see which shifts were causing the problems.

On the XLT and higher trims, I believe the gear display is incorporated into the larger LCD screen in the center of the cluster. Not sperate from the LCD screen like on the XL pictured above.
I suppose the XL display being simpler is a matter of my opinion. I've been told I'm odd, so...
On my XLT the gear display is exactly where the one in the picture shows
Ya? That's great news for me. I was under the impression that the larger 4.2" LCD screen was standard on all XLT's, and the gear display was on that screen. I stand corrected!
Ford's website has a lot of misleading and incorrect information on the details of the new SD. One section of the website says the 4.2" is standard on XLT's, and in another section it says it's included in the XLT prem package, and shows the 8" screen in the corresponding picture!
The xlt (with value package) has it included in the 4.2" lcd screen and you hit the +/- on the shifter to turn it on/off. It is in the same "location" though as the one shown above, just in digital screen form.
Edit* I can get a picture tomorrow if you want one.

So you say the 4.2" screen is included in the XLT value package? Ford's site doesn't say that either, which makes this tough to figure out.
A picture would be much appreciated, but I'll find one to test drive in person eventually. So if it's too much trouble, then don't worry about it. Thank you.
