So I have had to put off fixing the oil leak because of some medical issues, but got back on it today. Took out the IPR, then the non-serviceable plug with the plug facing upward so I wouldn't lose the little ball in there. Plug was loose so I assume that was at least part of the leak issue.
However, carefully taping the pump inside an oil pan, out came the edge filter but no ball. Tapped some more - nothing. Tapped harder - still no ball. tapped hard to no avail. Put a little HP air in there, not too much - NOTHING. Squirted a little brake cleaner in there - still nothing. More air - nothing. Where's the ball??? and what do I do now?
Did you remove the Pump? Post is a little ambiguous to me. But, I'm not that smart anyway. Just to make sure we're not mixing apples and oranges..... her is a Picture for Reference.

I agree. I am a little confused by the OP's post.
Thanks for posting a picture for reference. That should help the OP out and ensure he is using correct terminology.
Where are the pancakes?? I was hoping for pancakes........
Why would there be pancakes?? He specifically said this was a plug for NON SERVICE at ihop. If he went to ihop and didn't get any service how would he have any pancakes???
Can you see the round raised hemispherical end at the bottom of the hole with the edge filter removed? Sometimes they get stuck. If you do see it, be very careful removing it. Otherwise, just leave it alone. But don't mar it. If it's not there, you'll need to find it. If you were having issues before this could be the problem. Although they don't generally start/run without one.

Thank you - it was there. Kind of brown in color. I banged the pump harder and it came out. Thanks again!
