Glow plug help

Hi all. I am having trouble with my glow plug system. The problem is that with all 8 plugs connected, it will heat up momentarily with no clicking after wts goes off and is semi hard to start cold. I can unplug any one of the plugs and controller works like it should and motor starts up like it should. I am at a loss for diagnosis on this.
Glow plugs(motorcraft zd9) and relay/controller were changed a month ago. I bypassed controller factory wiring with direct hot to battery, heavier guage than factory and also a ground direct to battery. I am getting full voltage on glow plug side of relay and through harness to end of all plug terminals. The harness has stock terminals on the end and all plug in tight. I havent ohmed the plugs yet, but i can update this afternoon when i get off of work.
Has anyone else run across this problem?

Sounds like it's not handling the load of the 8 so check connections & grounds first; then it could be a faulty controller.

What gauge wire did you use and is the fuse you used large enough to handle the load? These things can pull about 200amps when cold. I had my doubts about that number until I fried a 150amp fuse.
