The search is over!!

Well, the search is finally over. Made a deal on this beautifully maintained 2000 EX 7.3 PSD that is absolutely unmolested and feels just as though it came off the dealer floor. As they say, first impressions are the best and that was exactly what happened. Will be picking up this weekend.

In no specific order, I'm going to plan for the following mods/upgrades

- Rear sway bar: coming off of cars, that sway is one thing that has always bothered me. Suggestions, opinions, DIY instructions are welcome.

- New bluetooth/audio/GPS/backup camera device in the double DIN: I absolutely will need a backup camera installed to ensure safety. Figured I might as well get a device that does all the above in 1 unit. Suggestions, opinions are welcome. I will have this done by a shop.

- Seat covers: Suggestions and opinions on something really good please.

My seats were worn the PO said. They were covered with some very high quality fitted leather seat covers that look stock and are seemingly very heavy duty. I will check them for names if you like. Look like this:

I am also installing an Android head unit as some have done here with backup and dash cameras (Having it professionally done). I have bought this one:

The PO has purchased a new set of Ford seat upholstery that will replace the current front seats. I need to figure out how to get them installed - DIY/Upholstery shop. After that I want to get a good set of seat covers for the long run.

Seat covers are not hard to replace at all. Maybe an hour for each one. Go to TheSeatShop.com and watch their VERY good videos on how to do the Ford Super Duty seats. There are several videos that are extremely detailed.

What newer year model headlights will be a direct fit for the '00? Prefer HIDs. I am also going to search for aftermarket options with HID Projectors.

Especially for 340k miles. It was a one owner, wife driven, garage kept with all services done at the dealer. I have every work order as well. Runs/drives and looks like new!

Congrats, nice rig!
The Hellwig rear bar is good stuff and a fairly easy DIY job.

What Nicmike said...I did my driver seat bottom in about an hour and a half and that's taking my time and replacing the seat heater in the bottom...now that I've had it apart I can probably do the passenger seat both heaters and both leathers in about an hour and a half. If you do it yourself, watch out for the seat frame...the edges are sharp - take your time or you'll come out looking like you put your hands in a meat grinder.

Carefuly with HID replacements. I haven't seen any for under $1000 that actually have the projector beams cutoff correctly and aimed right. There is a company out there that retrofits and they look AMAZING, but they are pricey and in some states (like CA) it's illegal to do any upgrade to HID if it didn't already have it from the factory as an option.

Thanks for the heads up.

I do not believe VA has these restrictions. I have retrofitted Morimoto HID projectors inside headlamp housings in the past with excellent results. I might look into that option if I can somehow make these yellowed headlights clean again HID kits come in varying prices, features and quality. It is not very difficult to pick one over the other if enough research is done. Morimoto sells all sorts of kits and are absolutely top notch, IMO. They are a bit pricey, but the fit, finish, quality and lifespan is worth the $$. If you can DIY stuff, they are great.

Congrats on the new ride! I love my backup camera, but the mirrors were the best thing ever for backing up. I lived with the little "dog ear" mirrors like you have for years thinking they were just fine. Until I got tow mirrors... They are so much better for seeing whats back there. It would be one of my first mods if I did it over again.
