Me too

Greetings all.

New member here, and new owner of an excursion. I also purchased mine this past weekend, and it is nearly identical to the original post [in engine, mileage, package, year, and color - although my paint a little rougher].

I'm having a lot of fun reading and learning from all of the recommendations I am seeing in various threads here.

I have seen that many people upgrade the springs due to sagging problems. Mine had Rancho shocks installed by the PO, does this fix the sagging problem?

Also, there seems to be some wandering [left / right] when going down the road. Is this nature of the beast, or could it range from an alignment issue to something being worn and needing replaced?

I also noticed that my thermostat hasn't come off of the cold line. Is this an engine [7.3] that is really difficult to get hot, or is it likely that I need a new thermostat?

Any other recommendations for things to look out for or upgrade would be highly appreciated.

-Chad

Chad,

The shocks don't fix the sagging springs. Rancho is a great option, though.

The wandering is normal until you get the rear sway bar and stiffer springs installed (the X didn't come with a rear sway bar). Also, check the bushings/links on the front sway bar.

The 7.3 takes 10-12 minutes to warm up. Nature of the beast. Yes, they are very difficult to get hot unless towing something.
