First off let me apologize if there is already a thread on this one.
I went out to start my truck this morning (83 250, 86 302 V8 4barrel Carb) and when I turned the key, nothing. None of the fans came on, none of the seatbelt buzzers. Nothing. The battery is charged. I do get power to my radio (not wired to the ignition switch). So would I be right in thinking that maybe it is the ignition switch that has gone bad? I haven't had any problems or issues up to this point that might suggest that being the case.

My first thought would be to inspect all of the power and ground connections as well as the condition of all the wires/cables. My second, would be starter relay/solenoid. If the ignition cylinder is sluggish to turn (feels gummed up), that would be my third thought. I asked about the column because the tilt option has a "pawl" within the column that fails which can cause the issue that you describe but that point is moot now.
The solenoid is good. My thought would be the ignition switch itself. When it's cold outside it is VERY tough to turn. So I'm guessing something went bad with that.

My 84 did the same thing. It came from South Carolina but when it hit the colder climate of Ohio, the already old lube in the cylinder caused it to be a very hard, sluggish turn to start and intermittently did not start at all. I got lucky when i flooded it with CRC Electronic Parts Cleaner. I used graphite to lube it after cleaning it, working the key in and out and cycling the cylinder while continually pushing graphite.
Deffintly going to have to try that out. I think I may have worked it out to be some sort of short somehwere. With the radio on, when I turn the key to the on position, it cuts off. So thats where I'm at now...

Aftermarket radio and fuse block by-pass connection ?
I assume so. I'm not entirely sure. She came with an aftermarket radio when I bought her a few years ago. All I know is that I have to make sure to turn the radio completely off when i get out of the truck because the ignition switch aint connected to it.

I would be concerned with that. Newer aftermarket stereo systems require a low voltage "draw" from it's power source to retain it's memory settings (clock, station settings, etc).
If it is in fact wired direct to the battery, it IS drawing constant voltage regardless of it's power being off. I would look to using the factory power source. I'd bet that there is a wire or two loose behind that radio in the dash. The PO made the mistake of not using the original radio's fused power source when installing the aftermarket radio. My truck came with a Blaupunkt head, hacked into the dash with the same hacked up battery direct power source wiring, undoubtedly wired up in someone's backyard or driveway with no thought of anything but loud noise. Needless to say, I went back to a factory radio from Pull-A-Part connected correctly.....Anyone need a slightly used Blaupunkt Receiver/CD with USB capability ??
Issues resolved. It turned out to be a wire from the starter switch. Had a bad connection on it. She was buried away deep in some wiring harness and stuffed deep into the dash. Here's to hoping to never have to chase that wire again!
