I know I've seen this info before but just can't seem to find it, my nephew has an 02 SD and wants to change the standard headlights to the composite. A side from the lights and the HL plugs is there anything you need to change like a header panel or such or is it a straight up swap? Any info you all can give would be great... Thanks
There is an adapter plug on the lights from the factory that goes from 9007 the bulb that the compsite lights use to which ever # the sealed beam is hb4 maybe can't remember off the top of my head. The header panel shouldn't need anything done to it unless you change to the 05-07 lights which I would recommend then you would need a different adapter that goes from 9007 to 9008 less than $10 though.
Thanks, If you go to the newer lights do you have to modify the header or just change it also?
You have to do one or the other either cut it or replace it with the 05-07 header panel. Cutting its not a big deal takes about 30 min with a Dremel and cutting bit is what works best. I have a good write up saved I can link if you and your nephew deicide to go to the newer lights and want it.
My lights are cloudy (fogged over).
Ford did a detail job and cleaned off the headlights but in only
a couple of months, they were cloudy, again.
Do the composite lights get cloudy?

One they fog up the only real long term solution is new headlights and the 99-01 lights are the worst of the worst in regards to out put that being said none of them are great until maybe the 17's with the LEDs. The 02-04 lights will drop right in no modification required 05-07 you will either have to cut your header panel less work than putting in the 05-07 header panel and free if you already have a dremel or similar cutting tool.
