I plan to leave Okinawa Japan around March next year but want to order a truck to have waiting on my when I arrive back in the states. I have seen order waits as long as 9 months. Is that the same for ordering F150s? What timeframes have you guys seen when placing an order? Does it matter if it is a Lariat or Platinum. I would assume that is only the case if there are some items that are backorder for a given package.
For me, placing my order to taking delivery was 2 months on the nose. 8 weeks. Model wouldn't matter as long as there are no supply issues. When I got mine the dealer told me the king ranch wheels were having supply issues and some deliverys were delayed for 9+ months. One of the reasons I went with a Lariat.
Likewise. When we ordered ours they said 6 to 8 weeks, and I think it shipped in 7. Took it another week to be delivered to the dealer. Almost spot on.
As an update to my previous post I got a call today from my dealership. They were just notified that the truck I ordered on 27 October is scheduled to be built on 19 December - a couple of days before the assembly plant closes for 10 days for the holidays. I seems that when the plant closes, all transportation stops as well so the truck will sit in a staging lot until operations resume. Their new projection for delivery is now the last week of January. I guess they really want to discourage custom orders with a 90 day wait!
If it's for military you can partake int he overseas purchase program and they pretty much ensure you have it there when you get home. I did it so long ago myself I honestly forget if/how they handle changes in rebates. If you find a good dealer they'd probably work with you and allow the vehicle to be stored for a month or two while you returned.
Ordered a F-150 SuperCab 3.5 EB 10 Speed 4x4 on 12/1/16. Just found out from my dealer the build week is 1/9/17. Priority 19. Im really looking forward to getting back into a 4x4.

I was a little late to the game on ordering the vehicles since I was just informed that I could be coming back to the states. I have asked to move my take delivery up from 17 Mar to 1 Mar which will only give me 2 months if they shut down for Christmas. Luckily its in St Louis and not far from Kansas City where I am assuming they are still put together.

Good luck with the build. If I wasn't on such a tight timeframe I would have stayed with the 3.5 and 10 speed. I needed a almost sure bet that it woudl be there when I needed it. Don't want to rent a car for however long it takes to arrive. Let us know how it turns out.
