Order to Delivery

Unfortunately, I've had to order my F350 twice, but it is interesting comparing the two order timelines. I realize that there are many factors that can impact the timing from order to delivery, but my factors remain relatively the same.

First order was place 11-10-04, schedule build date established 11-14, locked for production 11-28 (keeping the same build week - minor miracle), built 12-8?, shipped 12-9, and was delivered 12-22-04. 42 total days.

Second order was placed 12-23-04, status was clean and unscheduled for 14 days (I assume this delay was caused by the factory being closed), 1-11-05 status changed to locked for production, week of 1-17th is schedule build week ( ), with delivery schedule for week of 1/31st. Assuming mid week delivery, this is 41 days total days.

Given that the factor was closed for 10 days over Christmas, does this really mean their backlog dropped by 20% (10/41).

All the dates above except for order and delivery were based upon when I checked their status - so there could be a variance of 1-3 days on each intermediary step.

I can order 1 truck and it will take 3 months to get here. I can order the EXACT same truck 2 months later, and it will be here in 3-4 weeks. There are just too many variables in the Ford system to accurately explain the discrepancies. In your case, there may have been a shortage on one of the options on your first order, and that shortage has since disappeared. The backlog of total orders didn't change, but the availability of parts did. There's about 50 other possibilities,as well.

At least you seem to be getting your trucks fast. I ordered mine 11/17, still not in. I was told late janurary. I don't understand how two trucks can be ordered 5 weeks apart and have a similar due date. Your dealership also weems to be alot better too. I asked when my truck would be in, and they told me late janurary. So i asked if they had a specific ETA or build date. They said they don't have that info yet. This was last week btw, about 5-6 weeks after order was sent. I'm going to call back today after reading this.

Kevin, I'm sorry for your delay.

What are you ordering - I know that can have a big impact. As you can see, mine is the F350, CC, SB, PSD. Wheels were delaying some, but they haven't seemed to delay the F350s.

Do you have your DORA sheet? What is your priority? Mine was a 10. Could that be an issue?

Did you wear the wrong team shirt when you ordered - maybe the orderer is upset with you. I know I shouldn't kid, as I would be a little (ok, A LOT) PO with the delay. Since I really ordered mine on 11-10, you are getting yours before mine.

I understand your frustrations with your dealer. Mine is HORRIBLE about getting me good build dates and ETA information. I am getting that through other "sources".

Plant shutdown

According to Blue Oval it's for "LAP" and maybe "SLAP", whatever they are? Anyone translate these? Thanks

ordered my f350 4x4 lariat on 5nov. just got it 7 jan. love it completely. has power stroke. was supposed to be here before christmas but because of fords lovely allocation system it was pushed off the month of november. i also ordered the at tires and got the goofy allseasons instead . still waiting to hear from ford on that one. loaded withall kinds of options which are great but missing the nickel items they removed suchas splash shields, glovebox lt, door courtesy lts, etc.
otherwise i love truck.

Oasis states the truck was built on 1/16.

Was it really built on Sunday, or is it simply the way it was input into the system? I'm not sure if the factory is open 24/7 or 40/5 or some other subset.

tall paul- just for an update on my situation with my dealer. I got them to fax me the order sheet. Called and it is supposed to be built this week, due in 2nd week of feb. Hopfully there are no delays. Good to hear both of our truck should be here shortly.

Kevin,

Glad to hear it. According to the phone, mine was to be done this week, but it actually got built last week (I'm still wonder if they are working on Sunday). I assume you have your VIN number, so you can find out when it was built.

Its is also curious that it takes you one more week to get your truck (build this week and delivered 2nd week in Feb) than mine. I realize that this has been par for the course, but it hard to get much further from Kentucky than Washington State!

Here is hoping the next two weeks go fast.
