'56Speedo Needle

I was rummaging through some old boxes that I had not unpacked after the last move and found an extra 56 speedo unit. Unfortunately, it was not in a box and the needle has been knocked off.

Does anyone know if the needle can be reattached to the speedo, or is this one ready for the scrap heap? The needle has a small pin on the back (about 3/16" long) that lookes like it would slide into the hole in the brass fitting on the front of the unit. There is a threaded bushing with a small jamb nut on the front, but I haven't taken them apart yet.

I will take pictures and post tomorrow, if that will help.

Thanks,
