needle removal
first pull the gage. u need a thin needle nose pliers and a medium flat blade screw driver. maybe a 3/8" wide one.
look behind the gage face and see the needle that holds the indicator on ??? grab it with needle nose up close to the backside face as u can. u need to do this to prevent the magnate from pulling against the housing and messing it up. now take the flat blade on an angle up against the indicator and shaft and pivot the blade to pop off the indicator. hope this makes sense.. now putting it back grab the shaft again but now to the rear of the same area u were in to keep shaft coming back and messing the mag up again. place needle on MAKING sure it's at zero and tap lightly on needle to set it.. the main point i want to make is with the needle nose, pay attention where it is so u don't damage the bearing area just in front of the magnate, u want to pull or push against the needle nose while holding the shaft... there is a special tool to do this, but... if u don't have a hole in the middle of the indicator so the tool will push into u can't do it.. i have used this tool many times on gages.
