External transmission filter

Anyone have any luck changing the external transmission fluid filter, without breaking it or its piping?

You need to use an air impact gun in short bursts to loosen it.

I used a dewalt electric impact gun on it and it came right off. you need the tap-tap-tap to get it off. use a 6 pt socket

So, where should the external filter be installed........pre cooler or aft cooler returning to transmission?

I have always read to do it on the return. Matter of fact happened in line on the return on my 7.3. Had the nice external from diesel site but didn’t get a chance to install it.
