Aftermarket alarm? remote seat heater indicator light (user installed)? Does it come on when you turn the key and the gauges and lights all self-check? Or does it ever come on?
It could also be a light to show when the glow plugs are running after the light on the dash goes out if it stays on for a min or two after start up this was pretty common on 7.3 s but with out knowing what it does or when it does it it's a crap shoot aside for the fact we can tell you it's not factory. But bet is for an aftermarket alarm though that's pretty common for them to have a blue or red led on the dash somewhere that will illuminate when locked with the alarm remote.
Blue light pic. A couple of widget clues:
definitely not a seat warmer in the truck
definitely NOT for the aftermarket switch next to it.
That switch controls the road flashers connected to lights, I forget what they call those
does not light for the glow plugs.
Has never lit up for me. Ignition or not.
Not for the fog lights.
it is factory all day long judging the connection from the ddin stereo.
?????????
X2 on what Dan said. NO way is it factory. Here's mine. The oval switch on the left is factory. The other switch I installed for adjusting my airbags (aftermarket).
Pop the dash cover off yours and see where the wires go. I'd guess an alarm of sorts.
