21k mile quick trip report

Our 15 Expedition continues to impress. Just returned from a mini vacation in Gatlinburg TN. 340 miles one way. A lot of the trip is through the "mountains". I reset the trip 1 when we filled up to leave. The first 20 miles are full of stoplights. The return leg was 19.1 mpg as I parked in the driveway. Loaded with family of 4 and a weeks worth of luggage. I drove "normally". Love them turbos on the 3200 ft elevations. Had cruise set on 75 at the base. A new Tahoe passed me and I went around him halfway up the hill. On cruise- in 6th. He passed me again on the other side.
Yes- the Expy is long in the tooth in a lot of areas. But it holds its own for being an "old" design.

Sounds about right given the load and speed. Travelling by myself on a 250 mile run I found that the mileage will be 22-23 at 70 mph and drop 2-3 mpg as I bump it up to 75 or higher. All flat midwest roads of course. I just hit 8K on the odometer and so far so good!

Great report! Even my 2004 Expy with 113K on the clock still feels amazing on the road. These trucks were / are so well built and built to last, they are the perfect highway cruiser. I can only imagine by driving my 2011 F-150 how well the new Expeditions feel on the road with the extra gears and power.
