I think my pcm has gone bad. My wait to start light won't come on an when I turn my key on I can't hear my fuel pump cut on anymore. My vacuum pump is also making a loud noise. Does anyone have an opinion?
Thank you.
its a 2000, auto, 4x4, 179,000 miles. And I've checked all my fuses and even swap relays around. I had a chip in it an took it out to see if that was my problem but nothing changed. I unhooked the batteries before I did take it out. And when I hooked it back up the vacuum pump was making a loud noise.
I also hooked it up to a scan tool and it could not tell that it was plugged in. It said something like "error could not find DLC" or something along that
Unplug your fuel bowl heater, and replace that fuse. Leave it unplugged and see if all comes back on./ If so replace the fuel bowl heater or leave it unplugged.
Did you check to see if the line shorted against something? That is usually the problem when the light don't come on and nothing works. Just a suggestion.
If it turns out that your PCM is in fact bad or damaged, contact SIA Electronics. I had problems with mine, found them on eBay. $170 to fix. I sent mine in, they looked at it, turns out they could not fix it. They returned the PCM, I figured I was out $170...6 days later I got a $159 REFUND from them! So for $11 they ran diagnostics AND return shipping.
Side note: Walmart sells a plastic case $19 that the PCM fits in, crush proof, waterproof and enough room for bubble wrap. I included my address in the case and they returned everything! Good luck!
Thanks Denny.
but no it started when I installed the regulated return system. But I'll check the connections
I think its better than black jack odds that the fuel bowl heater wiring is shorted out. All this started when you installed the regulated return and fuel bowl delete....that's probably where the issue resides.
