Starting problems when engine is hot
I have a 6.9 diesel F-250. It does start ok when the engine is cold. Starter is working well, very fast !! But when the engine arrives normal temperature and you stop the truck it is practically impossible to start the engine again. Any comments on this issue will be very welcome.

They sold you a bad one, it happens.
Only thing these engines need to run is fuel and compression. You have compression; you're not getting fuel.
To confirm do the cool water over the pump thing next time it does it. If it starts right up then it's a bad IP.

The cold water over the pump thing is the process of pouring cold water over the pump body. Supposedly thiscauses all the tolerances to shrink and the pump resumes operation and causes the engine to start thing.

pensacola diesel has a reputation of selling "rebuilt" injector pumps that are worse than the bad one you took out of the truck.
they repair pumps by replacing what looks bad. not rebuilding them.

You aren't in the performance market(I think), so you just need a standard NA calibrated pump ($690)
As far as testing your pump, the problem is that when you are trying to start the engine, it is moving too slowly to build up enough pressure to actually inject fuel into the engine.
This happens because the minute space between the rotor in the center of the IP, and the "head" which is where your injector lines attach, becomes large enough that all of your fuel pressure simply leaks out and returns to the fuel tank.
It's something that is hard for a cheap rebuild shop to test, because it only happens:
A. at cranking speed
B. with the IP head hot.
This happens due to "heat soak" from the engine, after shutting the engine off hot. This is why you can immediately fire the truck back up after you just turned it off, but if you wait a few minutes it just won't start.
