In my previous post, I was ranting about the installation of a Ranch Hand brush guard... And as part of said installation, these brackets were removed. I tried doing a search on FTE and Google, but no one can explain what these brackets are actually for? Any ideas?
Well considering Ranch Hand has a few different guards for your 2016 F250 It's hard to say, but I would guess that the brackets bolt to the bottom of your frame rail behind the bumper, it's only a guess though. Your best bet is to contact Ranch Hands customer service and ask them specifically, what they're for and see if they can email you installation instructions.
These are on the truck as brand new from Ford... These are not Ranch Hard parts. I looked up several other manufacturers and they too show removing this part and not reinstalling... Just wondering what the original purpose was for?
Those brackets are basically crash protection for smaller cars so that some piece of the truck frame can contact the bumper of the lower riding car rather than having the entire bumper of the truck going over the bumper of the car. These replaced the "crash bar" that was on earlier model Super Duty trucks and are likely required for Ford to install for safety purposes.
Sorry, I did look it up and all I can find out is it's a Bumper frame bracket also known as 5C002. A lot of them for sale on ebay with bolts. Maybe someone else knows.
Thanks guys... and that makes sense for where they are located. The bottom bar of the brush guard runs pretty close to where those brackets would have protected, so I am assuming that is why they are removed and not reinstalled.
