Locking rear differential

Locking rear differential

In the 2017 product information book, it list a electronic locking differential, with 3.55 gears (X3J) for the f450 as an option.

but my dealer told me it's not available. Any one have information as to which is it? Option or not?

p.s. Page 27 under axle available

No, there is no locker on any DRW pickup, 350 or 450. Limited slip only.

do you know what the reason for that is? Why would they list it and then not make it optional?

I haven't seen it listed but if it is, it's a misprint. There have been a ton of them on the 2017's literature.

Yup, that's an error alright. The only way a 450 comes is with 4.30's and limited slip. Been that way for years and is the same for 17.

Slight (very slight) chance it will be there for Job #2 maybe?

I'm sure hoping they get the TPMS for the F450 worked out for Job #2. My dealer thought they'd get updated order guides in a month or so for Job #2, so we'll see.

I don't think it's rated for the task Bill which is why the DRW's have always got limited slip instead.

I would imagine a locker on a dually would be a bad combo. Too much tire to skid while making a turn.
