Axle Ratios

I really didn't realize there's a 4.10 rear axle ratio available.

I've been planning on going with the 3.55 rear axle on the F350 PS Crew Cab 4x4 SB SRW.

What are your thoughts on going with the 4.10 axle instead of the 3.55?

I looked at this PDF and don't see any difference on page 6:

4.10 is only available on F-350 DRW PS. F350 SRW PS you have the choice of 3.31 or 3.55.

That is correct.

F-250 and F-350 single rear wheel trucks:
Gas engine: 3.73 (open or locker option); 4.30 (locker only)
Diesel engine: 3.31 or 3.55 (open or locker option)

F-350 dual rear wheel trucks:
Gas engine: 3.73 (open or limited slip option); 4.30 (limited slip only)
Diesel engine: 3.55 (open or limited slip option); 4.10 (limited slip only)

F-450 dual rear wheel trucks:
Diesel engine: 4.30 limited slip only

If the 350 & 250 (HD) have the same rear (Dana M275), shouldn't it be possible to retrofit the 350's 3.55 limited slip diff into a 250's (HD) 3.55 open diff?

Consider me intrigued, especially if the 350's 3.55 LSD is helical/Torsen.

The DRW 350 doesn't have the same Dana rear as the 250HD. The SRW 350 6.7 does. The DRW 350 has a Dana M300. The SRW 6.7 350 and HD 250 have the Dana M275.

Rodney is correct. For some reason, Ford has no interest in offering the e-locker in their dually trucks, despite GM doing so. It has always been this way. And to further add to your disappointment, the limited slip in the dually axle is a clutch-type, not a Torsen. I will say the limited slip on this truck seems to be working much better than I thought it would, though.

My 450 has a 4.10. Had the choice between a 4.10 and 4.30.

You must have a CC truck. There is no choice in axle ratio on the pickup 450. It's 4.30 only.

True, CC, now with tow
body. I wonder what the rationale is for not offering a 4.10 in a pickup?

Bragging rights on towing. That's all it is. An F-350 Crew Dually Diesel 4x4 tows 27,300 with the 3.55 axle...same truck tows 31,300 with the 4.10 axle...and the F-450 which is essentially the same truck yet again tows 32,500 with the 4.30 axle.

I wish this truck had a 3.73.

I'm not liking the 3.55.
