3.08 open diff. options?

1994 xlt 5.0 5spd. I dont know much about differentials besides the basics. I was wondering what my options are for converting this to a posi rear end? I would like to retain the 3.08 gearing. Is there anything I can just add to it? I dont like the idea of welding the spidergears though, so any input is welcomed.

Assuming you have an F150 with the Ford 8.8" rear axle, there are quite a few choices for aftermarket traction-adding differentials for that axle. Everything from OEM-style clutch-pack limited slips to full lockers to electrically-selectable lockers. Check out www.reiderracing.com or www.ring-pinion.com for a whole selection of differentials for your truck as well as descriptions of how they work. Here are some manufacturer websites to check out: www.tractech.com (makers of the mighty Detroit Locker, among others), www.powertrax.com (they make a cool locking diff that is inexpensive but does a good job and goes in the stock open case - called the LockRight, which I have in my F350), www.auburngear.com (they make a clutch-type limited slip as well as a selectable locker), and www.torsen.com.

I'm probably going to go with the Powertrax, but if anybody has any horror stories with it, fill me in. Thanks.
