Been using a wifi adapter with my android receiver with some success but every now and then it konks out and won't connect until I do a bunch of stuff. So, I got a cheap Bluetooth one but it seems to be dead right off the bat. I would like to skip all this wireless crap and just go wired to the receiver since it has a USB port in the back. Is there any special cord or adapter to get? All the ones I see on eBay seem to be geared toward specific car makes for some reason.
I looked at those but they all either have terrible reviews or seem to be vehicle specific. I'm wondering if it's the crappy software that is the vehicle specific part though, and the cables may just be a cable.
I have an iphone so can't use bluetooth, but the WiFi works great - provided the phone isn't registered to any other wireless network when I connect to it. Could that be your problem?
I can tell you with absolute certainty, the Scantool one Will Not work with Torque -- it must be missing some parts of the ELM327 protocol? Or maybe it is something with the USB comms.
IDK, but the phone doesn't even see it at all...
If someone either figures out how to make one work, or find another one that works -- I'd be interested...
Norma: contact the seller and have them send you another BT unit. My 1st one was flaky and the second one works flawlessly. I still would like to go wired, and hopefully have the USB also charge the phone off the ODBII cable...
