Obd2

hey, i was wondering if any of you guys use software on a laptop to scan for codes. i recently got a laptop and installed pcmscan but i need the cable that goes from the laptop to the obd2 port, anyone know where to get them? i just need the cable.

I think that you need a bit more than cables.

This is the website that describes pcmscan (assuning that there's not something else bu the same name)

PCMSCAN - Palmer Performance Engineering, Inc.

At the bottom of the page it shows a list of hardware options that work with the software. These will plug into your obd2 connector and generally work with an RS-232 or USB port.

If you google obd2 or obdii, you'll find various manufacturers and forums.

mp3car.com has a general obd2 forum section that's sometimes pretty good. You have to dig around a little to find it .

The cable isn't just a cable, it's the vehicle electronics interface for the laptop.

You'll have to either buy one from the vendor or find a current owner that wants to sell.
