Had a problem with my 91 f250 idi running when cold and then once warmed up and turned off for awhile it wouldnt start back up. I tried the water on the IP trick and it started so i replaced the pump and the injectors and fuel return lines while i was at it. Im now still having the same problem. I poured water on the pump when it wouldnt start and it fired up. If i pick the rpms up then just let off, it almost sounds like its gonna die but the rpms dont drop below 500. It should also be noted that i have an aftermarket fuel pump on the frame rail, the duralift one thats on some of the other threads. I also have a different fuel filter system as well. Wtf.......
where did you get the pump from? as said, most shops do not rebuild the pumps.. they only repair them. and if it gets "heat soak" they will never see it because they do not get the pump hot when repairing it.
Justin at R&D does total rebuild of his pumps. Injection Pumps
Yup I had the same problem when I got one from thedieselstore.com.
I sent it it back to them and they sent it right back to me saying they "didn't find anything wrong with the pump".
i had to jump through hoops with these knuckle heads for almost a year to get my money back they were a PITA!!! I ended up going to pick n pull and got one for 80 bucks and it runs better than their POS
sorry for the little rant
whatever you do I would stay away from them and go to Justin at R&D. I have yet to hear a bad thing about his injection pumps... that is what I am going to do when the junk yard pump finally gives
oreillys get them from the same place every other auto parts store does. off some assembly line where they replace what is visible bad clean and paint it, and call it rebuilt.
