Thwap the inertia switch and fuel pump won't come on.
I would NOT do that. Depending on engine (gas), it might still start and get going then run out of gas (diesel prob won't start). That would be bad even for a sober person.
Get the club, it keeps the wheel from turning and will likely discourage driving. It also deters theft!
But, to add to what has been already suggested......
Please please get yourself some counseling. Join your local Al-Anon group, or get some other support. I cannot stress this enough. Help yourself first, then help your Dad.
I think most trucks have a fuel shut off switch (can't think if the proper name) that triggers if you're in an accident, for example. Usually in the front passenger wheel well. You would push the button or something to reset it. Not sure if you can manually trigger it on though. Should be in your manual (or just take a look)
the fuel shut off being referred to here is an inertia switch requiring about (approximate) .5 g's to trigger, bumping with a light tap from a hammer should be enough to trigger it, your hand should do but a hammer is able to make it happen faster even the rubber Handel should suffice, as an added bonus you can always remove the relay for the fuel pump or if (if a diesel)

Win-win.
Meh, it will get the job done. No fuel means it isn't going to start.
I remember when I was on a roadtrip and had an ignition issue where I could not remove my key, so I popped by the local ford dealer and the mechanic showed me on the pass side just above the wheel well, there is a plug you can disconnect and it wouldn't start, and it would take someone a long time to find it if they went looking. In my situation it worked perfect because I had a club also, but wanted the extra protection leaving it in a hotel parking lot for a few days.
I bought a LMU-200 GPS unit with remote starter block (from GPS & Track, but believe also available from CAL-AMP). The unit is designed for those no-credit self-financing car dealers. It allows them to determine where a vehicle is, determine if it leaves a geographic area, and then prevent starting if the driver has not made their payment. It allows you to log on via the internet, including from your smart phone, and turn starter block on or off remotely. So you can disable the vehicle without stepping outside and then turn it back on once they sober up.
PS: On my 2000 Diesel, I also cut a switch into the Brake-Shift Interlock at the brake pedal switch so I could leave it running but not shift into gear (like when you have to step on the brake first).
Don't rely too much on the Brake-Shift Interlock method!
All someone has to do is shut the engine off, shift it into neutral, then restart the truck and take off!!!
