I am planning on upgrading my intake and exhaust on my 300 c.i. I6 to utilize a 4 Barrell Carb. Has anyone done this? Basically, I just want to know what, if any problems occured. Also, where can I get a decent Exhaust Header?
hey man, im thinking of doing the exact same thing. Hooker headers should have some for your truck but theyre like 400 bucks. anyhow, let me know how it goes.
EFI would be a nice upgrade depending on if you throw a lumpy cam at it or not. I like my motor (see in signature) but right now I'm having a problem with my carb.
Offenhauser intake out of JCWhitney catalog, EFI dual exhaust manifolds (flow better than a header at low rpm's, an adaptor and Motorcraft/Autolite 2BBL carb. I have this setup on my truck, it works great and really frees the engine up.
I just bought a 1982 Bronco with a 300 six with the Clifford 4 bbl intake and header on it. It has a 4 spd behind it, and I just got it running. If you didnt know it you would think I had a V8 inder the hood. I plan to upgrade the ignition what would be a good upgrade?
Steve83: what's the best way to upgrade to EFI. I've got an '81 4.9L w/ single barrel carb (in an F-100). I'm pretty good at scouring the junk yards, but are there any aftermarket kits?
Thanks for the info. I have done some research on I think I am going Clifford. It is a little more expensive than Offenhauser, but they offer everything I need. Now All I need to do is get the cash.
Steve83, Clif***************.com offers a fuel injection kit, but it is fairly expensive. Check it out though. It may be what you want.
I'm planning on doing upgrades myself on my 84 (carb 2wd). What about "after" the header? I want to put on the exaust myself. Is there a decent kit out there anywhere, or does a guy have to piece something together?
It has to be pieced together. I am currently running custom dual 2" pipes, but I am converting it to a single 3" shortly. With headers, you don't want to run a pipe so large that you loose the backpressure. The 2" pipes on mine don't seem to be affecting the top end any, and the low end torque is pretty good too. I just don't like how loud it is.
