I have a 2006 f250 power stroke and my particular truck when I bought it did now have upfitter switches so I decided to get some but I was deciding whether or not to let ford install them or for me to install them. I've watched plenty of YouTube videos on how to do it and even a ford how to but when I went to ask ford about the cost they mentioned a programming fee of about $70 and none of the videos said anything about programming. I don't really see what would need to be programmed considering what I want to wire to it would just need to be spliced into the switches. Just looking for some advice thanks
I installed mine. No programming required. I have an 08 and it was a bitch reaching way up into the dash to plug in the harness but that aside its an easy install. Ford trying to sell you something you don't need or the service guy doesn't know any better
Easy install, a little time consuming but overall very easy. I bought my 06 about a year and a half ago and added the Upfitters & factory Trailer Brake Controller the same time. The Upfitter switches do NOT need to be programmed - plug & play. The Trailer Brake controller does need to be programmed. Here's a GREAT installation thread in an 06 with Excellent Pictures, Write Up & Documentation.

Does your truck have the access panel at the bottom of the dash, that you remove to get to the fuse panel?
If so, remove it. Makes life much easier to reach the connectors.
I sure wish i could identify a high beam headlight wire under dash that I could tap into it so that I could switch my driving lights on/off with a second relay wired to the upfitter switch in my '16 F250. I know I can tap into wire at headlight but I would prefer to locate tap and relay under the dash.
