Installed V springs in front no mod. Got somewhere around 2" give or take in lift. Brought truck to level height. I want to raise front about 2 more inches, think Im going with rear of front spring shackle lift, then I'll do rear with block. When I do this, will I need to change track bar, brake lines etc??
Need ? No, you can force the axle out of alignment if you don't mind a little bit of crabbing.
There is a workaround to use the stock brake lines as well but you will have to decide on your own if it is something you feel comfortable doing.
I'm on a 4" with V's and 2" drops up front with B-mod rears. Stock brake lines have been fine for years. I have an adjustable trackbar to keep things straight as well, it's worth the effort. Especially if you want to change height later, one less thing to worry about and it keeps the stock brackets as well.
I want to add a couple of more to it without having to go drastic on replacing pitman arms, brake lines, etc.
Next question, I need shocks, going with the Bilsteins 5100s, do I need the 0-2" or 4-6" if I add the shackles
4-6 would be my choice, which is also what I have on mine currently.
I believe 4" is right around the limit for minimum upgrades for steering and such. I am on the stock pitman arm and steering setup in general. The drag link is not perfectly parallel to the trackbar, so there is some minor bump steer over really nasty roads and terrain at speed.
As I mentioned before, I still have stock brake lines. However, the stainless steel braided upgrade lines are only $120-140 from SummitRacing AND they're good for a 6" lift if I recall. Considering they increase braking feel and such, those are a toss-out for lift cost in my opinion as I would have swapped to them even on stock suspension. Soft lines eventuall deteriorate and break down internally as well, so they need replacing either way.
I opted for a 4" for the lower all involved cost, as well as favoring a lower center of gravity while still running 35's all day long. I also tow occasionally, and while I know others tow on bigger lifts and tires, this just makes things less complicated across the board.
Thanks for the help. In my readings here since I got my Ex a couple of years ago I've read about the brake lines. Probably need to go ahead with that also.
To get the extra 2" up front then bringing the rear back up to level, would I be better off to get a lift kit or use the shackles on the front then the appropriate block for rear.
