When new guys come here they want to build a monster motor when gas is at a low priced everyone wants to build a motor with more power etc.
Bigger cam some want a stroker kits bore the block out. head work bigger valves mill them. Hotter ign. system an roller rockers the works. Looking at about 4-5k
An over drive unit cost can be all over the place for one of these. if you can rebuild one or do the fab work to install one. 1 to 3k.
Now body work & paint this is all over the place if you can do it an have a welder and know how to do paint & body work 2k to 8k
No end to it the longer you own it the more you'll put into it.
Now raise the price of gas to 4-5bucks a gal and many wish they'd kept the good old I-6
getting 17 mpg to 7-10 mpg not fun paying 5bucks to go 7-10 miles.
Always best to think things over.

A well tuned 445 will get as good mileage as a well tuned 360, until you use the long skinny pedal. I admit it is easier to show restraint with a 360.
No, I think you would end up getting better mileage out of the 445 as you know it's there, while the 360 you will push harder since it's not there. Don't get me wrong. I drive my V8 a little harder because I know it is there.
Not easy to drive 25 mph with 500hp having to keep it in 2nd gear to keep from lugging.
Like back in the day.
Do it now before it's to late with the EPA trying to keep everyone from doing any type of modifying too a street a vehicle may come one day. As they have been pushing to do..
It sure seems hard to imagine getting less than 8-12 MPG.
Kind of what I was suggesting. I've had a stock 360, a 410, and now a 445 in the truck. Not enough miles on the 445 to get a tune on it, and I'll put it away until spring in the next few days (the weather is really good so I keep putting it off).
I do know that I've been getting 4 to 5 mpg on it so far, but it has had a little too much WOT and not enough cruising.

Sounds like you're runnin' either a 650 DP or a 750 Dp. Which one? You know, they are volume (as in sound) meters also.
