Angry Cannot get this running right...

I've got a '97 with a 4.6 and once it warms up, I get a ton of valve clatter.

New MAF, new TPS, new air filter, new fuel filter, new plugs...

O2s don't seems to show the greatest, but don't throw codes.

I used a buddies Snap On scanner and after about 45 minutes of scanning stuff we did a self test and it forced a TPS code, so I replaced it. It also hinted at it possibly being the MAF, so I replaced it too.

No change at all.

Once it warms up, it seems to run just fine, but I get so much clatter I'm afraid to hardly hit the throttle.
Also, it gets worse at higher speeds.

I'm lost...

If I had to guess from here, I'd say replace the y-pipe and all O2 sensors... I don't want to do that. It's expensive.

There's no way I would spend anymore money on it without having a pro check it out. I rebuilt mine at 385k miles and the rings were carboned up, the valve seals were shot and it was just plain carbon dirty. Tell us how many miles on it.

I can't remember for sure, but it's less than 140k miles.

And the buddy I got the scanner from, is a pro. We evidently, couldn't figure it out.

If your sure it is valve train noise why would you not think oil starvation?
Your looking at things that have no relation to oil pressure or the valve train.
At that mileage check oil pressure.
When the oil gets up to operating temperature it thins down and pressure drops.
The heads have straining screens. They may be plugged.
A Scanner will do you little good for a low oil pressure issue.
Good luck.

That hadn't crossed my mind... I'd thought about running some Marvel Mystery Oil through it just because of the mileage. Think that would help?
