6.leaker help

Ok. As stated in my welcome thread, I just bought a 6.0 two weeks ago. It is a 2007 with 162k on the clock. The PO says he put an egr delete, updated oil cooler, upgraded FICM, cleaned turbo and HPOP among other things. The other day I noticed a few drops of oil on the driveway. He said it wasnt leaking when he had it and its now in the shop. My mechanic has the top of the motor off and I am about $600 in the hole and he doesnt know where the leak is coming from. He wasnt to keep breaking the motor down. There was a few drops coming down the front onto the front axle and steering damper and a bit coming off the back near the bell housing. Anyone have any ideas? We have ruled out the IPR, ICP, HPOP, and CAC. It runs and drives fine. Leaks just drive me nuts. Thanks in advance.

The first few pics are underneath the truck. The 2nd is of the valley with the top end off then looking down the front.

HPOP cover. It uses a specific type RTV, if he skimped on the type, it will leak.

It also looks like you could have a EGR delete leak... that looks to be a heater hose

I know. It was the one place I forgot to look before purchasing. Oversight on my part.

In the forth picture, the passenger side HPOP cover, it's pouring down the valley toward the front of the motor AND with the truck stance sloped to the front, over time, it would drain to the front.

Take some de-greaser to that oily mess and clean it up, use the garden hose to rinse it off.

Let a couple more guys look before you get overly happy. I'd redo the HPOP cover with a new gasket and the correct RTV AND a new hose and clamps on the EGR delete.

AND then clean it up.

Well, I wouldnt call it "overly" happy. I have to get it out of this guy's shop. So I'll do what you suggested and if the leak persists, I'll take it somewhere else. I dont mind leaks, just when they create puddles.

I think that's the right call... the leak is up high.. lets think out loud.

Both right and left side pictures have oil at the top that looks wet, further down the oil looks caked with grime. That wet oil picks up road dust, looks like grit of all types, if it were the front cover it would be dripping from the pan a little more, not covered by dust, unless the leak was lower... its not, the leak is high.

The drivers side heads are covered with it, its at least that high and a front cover leak, most likely, wouldn't spray the heads. And the passenger side in picture 5, the oil is still wet... no dust stuck to it because its washing it down. An oil return line from the turbo would look like a waterfall and you said it was coming off the back some... that leaves the HPOP cover.

PO said it didn't leak.. sure... but it did get HPOP work and that is a known issue if the wrong RTV was used.
