Thanks Watson. I will most likely pick up a gasket from Ford. Does that come with the correct RTV. Also, forgive my not knowing (I'm a computer guy) but how do you know if a hose and clamps are OEM? Going to replace those on the EGR delete as well

I'm going back and looking at pictures again... picture #4 is the oil cooler cover, behind that it is the HPOP cover... one of those needs the gasket. The HPOP cover needs the RTV in the rear corners and Ford does sell it.

Here's a thread by a member with the same issue... turned out to be the oil cooler cover for him. Read the whole thread.

Oil would just about have to run uphill from the HPOP cover to get to the belts like that

I'd look at the oil cooler cover/ filter adapter area closer

Power steering fluid is good. I'm about 6 hours in right now. If he keeps going it'll end up being about $1200 to fix the oil cooler gasket. He thinks the leak is there as well. Thoughts?

Dorman oil cooler gaskets are known to have 100% fail rate

You could pull the IPR for inspection any green gasket material there and the oil cooler needs replaced
That would be a tale tell sign anyways

Other the. That just visual inspection and the intake covers over right where you need to see so might be harder to tell

Ford TA-31 is the stuff Randy refers to. Use that and ONLY that if the HPOP cover is the issue.
Do not cheap out and just go get any RTV........it will come back to haunt you, as might be the case here.

You will need a new gasket, and the TA-31, two dabs of it back where the block meets the back plate, you will know what it is once you see it.
Yes you will have a crapload left over, that is because it's the same stuff used for the oil pan and also used on 7.3's I think.

Note sure what gasket you're referring to.
This was a mess. Loose fittings, bolts missing and not torqued correctly, etc. I learned a valuable lesson. If someone says they "did the work themselves" and aren't competent, pass on that vehicle.

So... what did you find. Front cover loose? Oil cooler gasket was bad (green one), you can see it was the passenger side. At least you know it's being done right and you're learning your truck.
