Tailgate swap
I'm not sure if this has been asked or not. But I wanted to know if it would be possible to swap a 15-16 tailgate onto an 04-08 bed. If it's possible I would like to know because I really would like to do the swap if I don't have to switch over the locks and what not. I have a dark toreador red 2005 f150 xcab 5.4 XLT that blacked out all of the chrome on but with the tailgate I wanted to put the newer one on because of the way the black strip looks going across it. I think it would look really nice on my truck with the whole blacked out theme. The front 3/4 pic is before I added the black bumpers. But with what I did so far let me know what you guys would think. Would it work or would it be to much black and over the top. Maybe I could do the black tailgate accent that was on the Saleen F150 S331 I'd the newer tailgate won't fit.

The 2014-15 tailgate will fit physically on the 2004-08 bed but not look good because the top of the newer tail gate is contoured differently -- especially the way the top curves and will look mismatched.
