Anybody know if you can get anymore options on the HD payload for 17? Playing around on the "build and price", I was able to get a 502a lariat with 2,660lbs payload. I'm sure that's a glitch, but I figured I'd see if anyone knew.
Definitely a "glitch". The website is really not to be trusted, as I found out with my truck.
I ordered mine under the assumption that the provided information on the website was correct. When you select 502a the payload package option goes away, so naturally I assumed that meant it included it, because the high payload number was showing, and especially since the truck has everything the payload package claims to include. This wasn't #1 priority so I didn't put excessive thought into it. Also, the website showed chrome bumpers on my two tone lariat. When the truck arrived, it had painted bumpers and the lower GVWR, translating to a barely 1500lb sticker payload. The dealership changed out my bumpers for free and the payload wasn't a deal-breaker, but definitely irritating.
If you look close at the fine print, it basically says the information can be totally inaccurate and we don't care; we aren't to be held responsible. Ford customer care said the same thing when I called them about it: not our problem.
I really don't understand why they don't offer the higher GVWR on the higher trim trucks.
I figured it wasn't possible. I guess I'll keep looking at a SD. Ford has to realize that their towing capacity is limited by their payload. If they would have just left the GVWR alone when they lightened the truck, it would've helped.
