Hello. I need some help. I have a 1996 rv it has a 7.5 engine. ok. first off I changed the batteries, it has 3 of them 1 for the engine and 2 for the rv and they run in series. when I was changing the rv batteries there was a popping noise coming from what is called the bcc box. anyway after the battery change it started right up. drove home and shut it down.
now I turn the ignition and I just get a click. climbed under and the starter was clicking. so I replaced the starter. then tried it again and the same click. this time the sound was coming from the starter solenoid on the side of the wheelwell. so I replaced that. no luck same thing note I replaced the solenoid that is inside the bcc box. all the same.
the clicking sound is definitely coming from the starter solenoid. does anyone have any ideas.
It is a class A. . I cleaned all the connections that I could find. The only thing I'm thinking is the small wire off of the starter. When I bought the new starter the connections were different so I spliced them together. Maybe it's not a good connection. I will check that in a few minutes.

Most of the time the starter relay in the dog house is bad. It clicks but does not relay the power to the small wire going to the starter solenoid on top of the starter.
Your old starter and its solenoid were more than likely not bad.
Can you possibly tell me which wire goes from the starter relay to the starter. I'm thinking I should replace that wire. Also, should I try and jump the starter. Meaning touch the 2 large bolts on the back of the starter to see if it turns over
The wire that goes to the starter from the starter relay is the one that is not hot with the key off.
Or it should be the one with no other wires with it on the same stud.
Looks like the one closes to you in the photo above.
