I sold my 96 7.3 that I had for 18 years and bought a 2000 7.3 ... I've read my new truck has 235hp. I also read the 2003 has 235hp both w/Auto trans. Can anyone tell me where the additional 15hp of the 2003 comes from? Is it different injectors or factory programing or? Thanks for any help.
You state both have 235 hp so not sure what you're referring to?
The last of the early 2003 7.3's may have had a different turbo which could have affected performance.
I'd look and do a comparison on torque as the stroker motors are low rpm, high torque output engines.
You might jump on the 7.3 forum for better answers.
Look at the sticker on the passenger side valve cover. My 2001 PSD has 250 stock. The 99-03 7.3l has bigger fuel injectors. That why the HP has gone up. HP rating on the engine is also at the flywheel.

I found a site that shows HP year by year for 7.3's ... I notes that for 2001 the 7.3 calibration increases HP and Torque. A good buddy of mine has been doing Ford diesel repairs/mods in his shop for years. He's going to work some of his magic.
Thanks for the replies to all, my buddy who has done Ford diesel repairs/mods for years has the truck in his shop. He's put together a plan, I'll post what he done in a few weeks.
