Hi there guys I bought a 1989 f350 4X4 just for the Dana 60 . Plan on putting it on my 85 f250. This might sound stupid but could I put the ttb in the f350 just so I can move it? It's a really nice truck 460 with c6 . It has a blown head gasket. I'm debating whether I should just keep it or just get the d60 and part it out. I honestly don't have space for it.

It would be a bast*rd machine no one would want. I vote don't do it.
Hi there guys I bought a 1989 f350 4X4 just for the Dana 60 ...could I put the ttb in the f350 just so I can move it?
Could you cut the front crossmember out of the '85 and weld it back into the '89 so you have pivots for the TTB to mount to?
I suppose....
But 250's have limited steering lock before the tires rub the front leaf springs.
The CCLB already turns like a ship, I can't imagine what that would be like.
Hard to believe the only way to source a Dana 60 around there was to buy that truck. They must have really wanted to get rid of it because of the head gasket i.e. Must have gotten it cheap. Could you fix the engine, sell the truck and use that money to buy an axle? It looks too nice to consider hacking it up or parting it out.
yes you can. the ttb mount bracket bolts to the cross menber and has to be removed to bolt the trac bar in the same place. so jack the 350 up and remove the axle, springs, steering linkage, driveshaft, trac bar and mount. then jack up the 250 and remove the springs, axle , steering linkage, driveshaft, ttb center pivot mount, and swap all the 350 stuff into the 250.
then bolt all the 250 stuff into the 350 and you will have two driving trucks.

you are exactly right. Old man told me he didn't want to bother fixing it, that's why he sold it cheap just to get rid of it. I figured it was a perfect opportunity to get the D60 I always wanted. Yes I could fix it and flip it. But the question is could I find another d60 for cheap They are hard to find and are expensive.

250 is lifted . 350 is not, so I don't need to remove the leaf sprigs
Yes you do. The TTB axle gives the tires more leverage against the springs, so 3/4 ton TTB springs need to be significantly stiffer than 1 ton solid axle springs. Putting a solid axle under TTB springs will give a very stiff ride.
WOW, I'm looking at the exact same scenario, a 95 f350 to put the front end in my 96, i talked the guy into selling the whole truck for 1350. deal? ripoff? it isn't as nice as OP's.... but at least half of it's the same color...
Also, thanks for answering the same question i had. i know the ******* truck wont be worth anything but at least i will be able to give it away...
Ummmm...part that truck out? Butcher that truck? From the looks of it, I'll trade you a d60 for that truck....I have a dozen d60s and if the pictures do that truck justice, I'd take a dozen of those trucks instead.

You guys don't seem too thrilled with my decision. I thought about it and yes I am going to keep it
stead.
