I left the coilovers adjusted the way they arrived from Fox which brought the front up 2.5". The truck now sits level.
I have only driven it 30 miles since install but my first impression is that the ride is much improved over stock. The rear wheel hop and the floaty rebound are gone. Time will tell but at this point, I think it was money well spent!
I am upgrading my suspension on my new 2016 F150 4x4 (it is an interesting build for Mexico.... some things different, some the same) when I get up to San Diego at the end of May.
The weight of an ARE shell, some Icon wheels with 33"BFG KO2's and the Icon Stage 5 suspension kit should make a massive difference in my driving experience from pavement to washboard to cobblestones and giant potholes.
I will gladly post my experience when it is all done.
Any owners of the 2017 here that want to chime in with their FX4 ride experiences?
I had heard/read elsewhere that the new 17 trucks had an updated Rancho shock... Trying to find that now..
My '17 is not an fx4 and it rides pretty good on potholes. It did still bounce sideways just a little on uphill washboard. It also has the max payload package with 18" wheels load range C stock tires. I drove a'16 Lariat with levelling kit and it was really bouncy even on pavement and little bumps and dips. My buddy who drives a toyota Tacoma TRD said mine rode way better that his truck. I like the sound of the adjustable front shocks though. Does it require and tools to adjust the height?
This is another one of those subjective questions. How does one measure or determine the ride quality of a truck? Not to be overly critical but Personally I think my 2018 F-150 Platinum FX4 rides very well for what it is and intended to be.
I don't think you can improve the current ride quality of a late model factory built Ford F-150 without spending an outrageous amount of money.
