I got my '17 f250 platinum about a month ago and did not get it with the 360 or CHMSL camera options. All I have is the tailgate camera. I was thinking of adding the OEM CHMSL camera. From what I see, I will need the camera and light itself, and to change the roof harness. The parts aren't too expensive, saw them on fordparts website. Just wondering if I will have to get the dealer to reprogram the sync 3 head unit to accept the additional camera, or if I can use FORSCAN to do it myself. If anyone has info on this, please chime in. Thanks.
I rather not use an aftermarket CHMSL camer kit if I don't have to.
Has anyone been successful at adding the chmsl to an f-250? I ordered the kit and camera and wires but ford did not have anyway to update the sync system to show the view?

Reason: needed to add more
Please post confirmed part numbers for the CHMSL w/camera and associated harness.
I'll have to do some digging, but I seem to remember reading what the dealer needed to change with their IDS system. I thought it just needed to be "activated". Sorry that doesn't help much. Maybe a Ford Tech on site can confirm or deny???
Any updates on this topic? My truck also only came with tailgate camera. We just got a new TC and I'd like to investigate adding the CHMSL camera, too. I'll be installing upfitter switches in the next couple weeks, so if I need to swap out harnesses, that'd be the prime time to do it. Thanks for any extra info you guys can provide!
I was looking at a system from tadibrothers.com . Seeing the opposiite side of the trailer as I turn backing up always bothers me so I have been looking at the systems with the side mount cameras. I don't want to use the ford system because the rear camera is a wired camera and putting that in cleanly is a PIA.
I can't recommend the 360 camera enough. Funny enough, It was one of the key deciding factors in going with our 350. The Mrs is going to be a driver and she needed it for parking. The camera system also gives you multiple views, including the tow-view when backing up connected to a trailer.
FYI - the trailer mounted camera is not included in the camera packages. That comes as a separate add-on. I too plan on going with a after-market camera for the rear of the RV.
FMVSS 111 stipulated rear view cameras on all vehicles of 10K GVW or less built on or after 5/1/2018. Ford is including across the board on all vehicles and is phasing in early. CHMSL is optional. Tailgate is standard. New FMVSS 111 rearview camera requirements
