Can anyone explain to me if you order the CHMSL camera option do you loose the "normal" tailgate rearview camera? With the on-line configuration if you select the CHMSL camera it unchecks the tailgate rearview camera. I wan't both the tailgate camera and the CHMSL camera but do NOT want the total camera package. I want to keep the tailgate camera for day to day but want the CHMSL camera for 5th wheel usage. Is this possible? Can you select between the two cameras on the touchscreen WITHOUT purchasing the full camera pakage? I have tried to ask the on-line help people via chat on the ford site and they were useless and couldn't answer the question.
You have both cameras. The default view is always the tailgate camera. You have to press a button on the touch screen to change to the CHMSL camera.
Now as far as what package you have to purchase - I can't answer that. I purchased the full camera package. I highly recommend it - the 360 degree view is awesome.
Hi- Thank you. Yes by purchasing the 360 camera package I know that both cameras are available but I can't get a straight answer on if you just purchase the CHMSL Camera upgrade. I already plan to purchase a separate wireless side and rear camera system for the 5th wheel so don't feel I need the 360 on the truck too. Thus the reason I just want the 2 factory cameras. Does anyone have just the CHMSL camera upgrade?
I just placed an order for a 2017 King Ranch. I don't remember checking a box for a 360 degree camera option. What is this option actually called on the order form?
This truck is for my wife to drive. She needs that camera system.
The one option that I remember is; CST TRLTPMS/CAM *DLRINSTLD ACY $725
The $725 option is the 360 camera option with 6 cameras and an optional wires trailer camera. The CHMSL camera option is $200
Thanks, phheww! I got a bit worried there for a bit. I don't have the CHMSL option on my truck but I think that's part of the "King Ranch Ultimate" $2960 option that I ordered. I made sure to tell the dealer that I wanted that one.
Thanks Klassic. So have you received your truck or is it on order?
Build date of 11/28.
I was as concerned as you were about the tailgate camera. I made my salesman keep rechecking as he was picking option codes
It's standard on Lariat and up
Don't mean to hijack the thread, but what side and rear camera system are you going to purchase for the 5th wheel?
I was looking at a system from tadibrothers.com . Seeing the opposiite side of the trailer as I turn backing up always bothers me so I have been looking at the systems with the side mount cameras. I don't want to use the ford system because the rear camera is a wired camera and putting that in cleanly is a PIA.
I got my '17 f250 platinum about a month ago and did not get it with the 360 or CHMSL camera options. All I have is the tailgate camera. I was thinking of adding the OEM CHMSL camera. From what I see, I will need the camera and light itself, and to change the roof harness. The parts aren't too expensive, saw them on fordparts website. Just wondering if I will have to get the dealer to reprogram the sync 3 head unit to accept the additional camera, or if I can use FORSCAN to do it myself. If anyone has info on this, please chime in. Thanks.
I rather not use an aftermarket CHMSL camer kit if I don't have to.

Have you found out any furthur info on this. I want to add this camera also. the install is not the problem but turning it on in sync would be what needs to be figured out. I wonder if forscan can access this option.
