Tailgate step guts, can they be installed in a plain tailgate?

Tailgate step guts, can they be installed in a plain tailgate?
I'd like to have the Ford tailgate step, is this possible to convert into a plain gate?????

Finding a used one at a salvage yard is going to be the least expensive way. Don't believe it is possible to retrofit the guts.

Correct. It's either a tailgate with the step or it's not. Two distinctly different tailgates.

No. You have to get a whole new tailgate because the two have different internal structure.
